Privacy Policy

AffirmStar is a trading name of C&M Electronics Ltd, a company registered in England and Wales under company number 11532536, whose registered office is at 83 High Street, Hemel Hempstead, Hertfordshire, HP1 3AH, United Kingdom. C&M Electronics Ltd is the data controller for personal data processed through AffirmStar. Privacy enquiries can be sent to hello@affirmstar.com. We collect:

(a) All users: Your first name, email address, and date of birth — to create and manage your account and personalise the service (legal basis: performance of contract). Values are calculated from your date of birth — your zodiac sign and life path number — and used to personalise your affirmations. This calculation constitutes profiling under UK GDPR Article 4(4). No decisions with legal or similarly significant effects are made solely by automated means.

(b) Daily affirmation emails — all users: The morning and evening emails are drawn from a fixed set of affirmations held within the service. They are not generated by artificial intelligence, and no personal data is sent to any AI provider in order to send them.

(c) Affirmations generated on demand: Where you request an AI-generated affirmation in the Dashboard, the request is sent to Anthropic, Inc. (Claude AI). We do not send your name, your email address, or your date of birth. What is sent is: your zodiac sign and life path number (both calculated from your date of birth), the current moon phase and ruling planet, whether it is morning or evening, the affirmation topics you have chosen, characteristics associated with your zodiac sign, your numerological personal year, the topics you selected recently, and your language. Anthropic processes this to generate the affirmation and returns it to us.

Data storage, email delivery & international transfers: Your account data is stored in Google Firebase (Firestore), in Google’s London (United Kingdom) region. Emails we send you — account and verification messages and your daily affirmations — are delivered through Resend, an email service provider acting as our processor; for that purpose it receives only the data needed to deliver the message, namely your email address and your first name. Anthropic, Inc. processes on-demand affirmation requests as described in (c) above. Stripe, Inc. would process payment data if and when paid subscriptions become available; we never store or see card details. Some of these service providers may process personal data outside the United Kingdom. Where that is the case we will put in place the safeguards required by applicable data protection law; the exact transfer mechanism for each provider is still being confirmed and this section will be updated once it is. We do not sell, rent, or share your personal data with third parties for marketing purposes.

Retention: We retain your data for as long as your account is active. Deletion is currently carried out on request rather than automatically: email hello@affirmstar.com and we will delete your account and associated data.

AffirmStar does not set any cookies — neither our own nor third-party advertising or behavioural tracking cookies. Instead, the app uses your browser’s local storage, a related technology, to keep you signed in to your account and to remember how you have set the app up.

What is kept in your browser. Local storage currently holds some of your account and profile information so the app can work without asking you to enter it again: your first name, your email address, your date of birth, your phone number if you have added one, your chosen affirmation topics and delivery times, your time zone, your language and display preferences, whether you have completed onboarding, your plan status, and a token that identifies your account to the service. This information is stored on your own device by your browser and stays there until you clear it. It is used to provide the account and application functionality you have asked for.

If we later introduce analytics or other tools that set cookies or similar technologies, we will obtain your prior consent before those technologies are activated.

You may clear your browser’s local storage at any time via your browser settings. Doing so will sign you out on that device and reset your in-app preferences, but will not affect your account, your data held by us, or your subscription.

Under UK GDPR (and EU GDPR for EU residents) you have the right to:

• Access — request a copy of the personal data we hold about you
• Rectification — ask us to correct inaccurate or incomplete data
• Erasure — ask us to delete your data where no legitimate purpose remains
• Portability — receive your data in a structured, machine-readable format
• Object — object to processing based on legitimate interests
• Restriction — ask us to pause processing while a complaint is investigated
• Withdraw consent — where processing is based on your consent, withdraw it at any time without affecting the lawfulness of prior processing

To exercise any right, email hello@affirmstar.com — we will respond within one calendar month. You have the right to lodge a complaint with the UK Information Commissioner’s Office (ico.org.uk), or for EU residents, your local data protection supervisory authority.

We may send you service-related emails (such as subscription confirmations, renewal reminders, and updates to these Terms). These are transactional and are necessary for the performance of our contract with you.

We will only send you promotional or marketing emails if you have given us your prior explicit consent. You may opt in during registration or at any time from your account Dashboard. You may unsubscribe at any time by clicking the unsubscribe link in any marketing email or by emailing hello@affirmstar.com. Unsubscribing from marketing emails does not affect your subscription or service access.
